Great tips. I'm not self publishing, but I have been making my own covers for fun and plan to use them as a suggestion to my publisher's cover artist to visually show what I've describe to her in words. I posted one of those covers on my facebook page and had a great response. I've since made several for each of my WIPs and have found that by envisioning the scene on my proposed cover, it's helping me deepen my relationship with the characters. They've suddenly become "real" for me. Thanks for these posts. I'm enjoying them.

Thanks for the tips, Nina! Covers are still important even in the e-book market.
